Box Score CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Midway University men's soccer team wrapped up its season-opening road trip when it faced off with Thomas More (Ky.) on Saturday in the suburbs of Cincinnati. Despite the Eagles taking a 1-0 lead early in the second half, the Saints battled back with four unanswered goals to claim a 4-1 victory over Midway.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-3-0 on the year while Thomas More improves to 2-1-0 for the season.
"We were really good for the first 65 minutes, but tired legs got the best of us in the end," said head coach Tim Wolz. "This is the best we have looked in a while."
In the opening 45 minutes, the host Saints controlled most of the action, outshooting Midway 18-3. The Eagle defense was able to withstand the first half pressure, however, and thanks to a seven-save effort by sophomore goalie Bryson Lynch (Evansville, Ind.) were able to enter the locker room tied at 0-0.
In the second stanza, Midway got on the board with a goal by Karl Shand (Turks and Caicos Islands) in the 55th minute against the run of play. The goal was his first of the season.
