Men's bowling competes in two conference tournaments

SMYRNA, Tenn. - It was a jam-packed weekend for the Midway men's bowling team, which took part in a pair of Mid-South Conference tournaments on Saturday and Sunday.

The Eagles finished sixth at the Music City Open on Saturday and eighth at the Brandon Burns Memorial Tournament Sunday. Both events were held at the Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tenn.

MUSIC CITY OPEN

The Eagles finished with a total score of 7,220, knocking down 4,937 pins in the team round with a 2,283 score in Baker games.

The top individual performance in the tournament came in the junior varsity ranks, where Vincent Biehn averaged a 223. Biehn's 1,115 pins were the third best of all JV bowlers and the eighth best of the entire tournament.

Three Eagles finished with per-game averages of over 200 in varsity play. Caleb Kornosky had a team-best 209.75 average, with Caleb Marshall and Charlie Smith finishing with 203 and 201.4 respectively.

Midway rolled a 4,847 in team play and 2,240 in Baker for a final tally of 7,087 Saturday.

JV got another high-ranking performance, this time from Logan Shaner, who averaged 211.6 with 1,058 total pins over five games. This ranked him second among JV bowlers and 11th overall.

Logan Tincher had a 217.5 average over two games with Kornosky (201.25) again topping 200 over four.

Another busy weekend lies ahead for Midway, which will travel to Marietta, Ga. for the Bowlero Southern Classic next Saturday and Sunday.
