HANOVER, Ind .– On Thursday afternoon, the Midway men's tennis team faced off with the Hanover (Ind.) Panthers in a non-conference battle. The Eagles swept all three of the doubles points and cruised to a 6-1 victory.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 2-4 for the year while Hanover falls to 3-6.
At No. 1 doubles, the tandem of Aditya Roy Chowdhury (Kolkata, India) and Paul Wamba (Dschang, Cameroon) earned an easy 8-2 victory, while Julian Lopez (Bogota, Colombia) and German Collado (Alcala de Henares, Spain) won 8-4 the No. 2 position. The duo of Izan Casado (Leon, Spain) and Daniele Trentin (Venice, Italy) closed out a sweep of the doubles points with an 8-6 win at the No. 3 slot.
In singles play, Chowdhury picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 1 position while Wamba earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2. At No. 4 singles, Lakshay Vivek (Haryana, India) closed out the scoring for Midway with a straight set 6-4, 6-0 win. The matches at the No. 5 and 6 positions were left unfinished due to inclement weather that hit the area.
Coach Adam Malik's squad will return to action on Monday, March 20, when the Eagles host Campbellsville (Ky.) at the Falling Springs Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
