DANVILLE, Ky. – On Saturday afternoon, the Midway men's tennis team made the short trip to Danville to play a non-conference match against Centre (Ky.). While the Eagles took two of the three available doubles points, the host Colonels won four of the six singles matches to earn a 5-4 victory.
With the loss, Midway falls to 3-6 for the year while Centre improves to 5-8.
At the No. 1 doubles position, the duo of Paul Wamba (Dschang, Cameroon) and Aditya Roy Chowdhury (Kolkata, India) battled to an 8-7 (7-4) victory while Lakshay Vivek (Haryana, India) and Julian Lopez (Bogota, Colombia) claimed an 8-5 victory in the No. 2 slot. In the No. 3 position, the Colonels picked up a victory but the Eagles held a 2-1 lead entering singles play.
At No. 1 singles, Chowdhury completed an undefeated day with a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory. The Blue and Gold picked up a second singles victory when Vivek picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 2 position. Unfortunately, Centre earned wins in the remaining four singles matches to earn a 5-4 victory.
Midway men's tennis will return to the courts on Tuesday, March 28 when the Eagles visit Pikeville (Ky.). First serve against the Bears is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET.
