Women's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision To Bears

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – On Tuesday afternoon, the Midway women's tennis team hit the road to face off with Pikeville (Ky.) in a non-conference matchup. Despite an undefeated day from Agustina Olivero (Montevideo, Uruguay), the Eagles suffered a 6-1 loss to the hosts.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 4-8 overall while Pikeville improves to 3-7 for the year.

In doubles play, the duo of Olivero and Mara Guillen (Madrid, Spain) cruised to a 6-2 victory at the No. 1 position. Unfortunately, the host Bears earned wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to claim the doubles point.

In singles action, Olivero picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 1 position to complete her undefeated day.  In other singles matches, Grace Froedge (Louisville, Ky.) dropped a hard-fought 6-4, 6-3 decision at the No. 5 position while Jasmin McClenahan (Weslaco, Texas) fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4.

Midway women's tennis returns home on Thursday, March 30 when it hosts Lewis-Clark State College (Idaho). First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET at Falling Springs Tennis Center in Versailles, Ky.
