DANVILLE, Ky. - Jacob Williams hit the national 'B' cut in the 100-yard breaststroke to highlight a record-setting weekend for the Midway men's swimming team at the three-day Speedo Midseason Invitational, which concluded at Centre College Sunday.
All told, 10program records were broken over the weekend, with Williams having a hand in six of them. His best showing came in the 100 breast, where his time of 59.34 seconds was good enough for a national cut.
Williams set new program records in two other breaststroke events, swimming the 50 in 27.72 and the 200 in 2:13.44.Â
In relays, Williams,
Daniel Maia,
Brad Blanchard and
Jalen Wright set records in the 400 medley (3:41.86) and 200 medley (1:40.09), while Williams, Wright, Blanchard and
Jack Logan set a new Midway mark in the 800 free (7:48.71).
Maia set multiple individual records as well, swimming a 58.11 in the 100 back, a 56.45 in the 100 individual medley, a 25.98 in the 50 back and a 2:05.09 in the 200 IM.
Midway will be off for the rest of the calendar year before returning to the road for a Jan. 11 meet at the University of the South (Tenn.).
