Cedarville edges Midway in women's tennis matchup

MIDWAY, Ky. - Agustina Olivero and Mara Guillen both went undefeated on the day, but NCAA Division-II Cedarville (Ohio) ultimately had too much firepower, as the Yellow Jackets earned a 5-2 win in Midway's women's tennis home opener Friday.

The Olivero and Guillen pairing has proven to be unstoppable at No. 1 doubles so far in the young season. The pair earned a second-straight 6-0 victory Friday, this one over Diana Ivanikhina and Abby Totten.

Olivero also got the best of Ivanikhina at No. 1 singles, winning 6-3, 6-3. In No. 3 singles, Guillen overcame a 6-4 loss in the opening set, bouncing back to win the next two 6-4, 10-6 against Delia Guzic.

Three of Cedarville's singles wins came in straight sets, with the exception of No. 5, when Midway's Angelia Herrera took Susu Price deep into the third set before eventually losing 13-11.

Next up for the Eagles is a neutral-site match against Tennessee Southern in Bowling Green, Ky. at noon on Wednesday.
