DANVILLE, Ky. - Midway earned one singles and one doubles win in a 7-2 Saturday loss to NCAA Division-III Centre College.
The Eagles were originally slated to host the match, but was moved to Centre's indoor facility due to cold temperatures and high winds in Midway. With the match being played at Centre, it was played under NCAA scoring rules where each doubles match counts toward the final score.
Aditya Roy Chowdhury and Daniel Pinzon earned a win at No. 3 doubles, while German Collado was victorious at No. 5 singles. Chowdhury and Pinzon defeated Jasper Gazzo and Isaac Flanery 8-6, while Collado overcame a 6-3 loss in the first set with wins of 6-0, 10-8 in the next two.
The Eagles are back on the road Sunday, when they travel to face Indiana Southeast at 1 p.m. in their River States Conference opener. The teams were first scheduled to play on Friday, but the match was canceled shortly before it was scheduled to begin due to a buildup of water on the courts.
