OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - Defending River States Conference champion Oakland City proved too strong for Midway Saturday, earning a 7-0 win in a battle of RSC women's tennis unbeatens.
Mara Guillen and Agustina Olivero had the lone win of the day for the Eagles, defeating Mariana Espinosa and Isabela Todorovic 6-1 at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Midway didn't win a singles set, only managing tie-breakers at Nos. 1 and 4. Olivero lost 6-1, 7-6 to Maria Trembach at the first spot, with Paula Rueda losing 7-6, 6-3 to Juliana Puente at the fourth.
Now 5-8 overall and 2-1 in league play, the Eagles return to action for a 3 p.m., non-conference match against Georgetown on Tuesday.
