LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Another meet, another national 'A' standard for Midway pole vaulters
Nevaeh Brown and
Maddi Reed.
The pair finished second and third in a field full of NCAA Division-I talent at the PNC Bellarmine Indoor Track and Field Classic in Louisville on Friday. They were the top performers for the Eagles in an event where team scores were not recorded.
Brown and Reed both topped out at 3.76 meters, equaling Midway's top mark of the season set by Reed
at the same course at last weekend's Bellarmine Invite.
The height needed to qualify for the NAIA National Indoor Championship 'A' Standard is 3.70. Brown previously hit it
at the season-opening Centre First Chance.
Brown earned the runner-up spot via tie-breaker after Reed missed an early attempt at 3.66.
Only Western Kentucky's Sophia Roskoski (3.97) topped the Eagle duo, who finished ahead of eight Division-I vaulters.
Midway also got a top-10 finish in shot put, where
Trinity Gottler finished ninth with a throw of 10.45 meters. All eight competitors ahead of Gottler were from D-I programs.
The Eagles are back at it tomorrow, staying in-state for the Centre College Indoor Showcase, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
