GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Perhaps the most decorated individual athletic career in Midway history concluded on Thursday, with
Nevaeh Brown getting herself on the All-American podium one last time.
The senior pole vault standout became an All-American for the sixth and final time at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, where she came in fifth place with a top height of 3.80 meters.
She still retained a COVID year of eligibility in indoor but will not be eligible to return for outdoor competition this spring.
After passing out of the first round, Brown came out on fire Thursday, clearing each of her first four jumps.
This included a successful try in her first go at 3.80 meters, the same height that earned her a second-place finish at the
2024 Outdoor National Championships. and her best of the 2025 indoor season.
Brown, who was also the
indoor national runner-up a season ago, saw her run end there, as she was unable to clear 3.85.
She was in line for a fourth-place finish before Kaylee Pribyl of Doane (Neb.) cleared 3.85 on her third attempt and rode that momentum to a national title, eventually peaking at 4.05.
Brown departs Midway a three-time All-American in both indoor and outdoor track and field, as well as an eight-time River States Conference champion, taking five pole vault titles in indoor and three in outdoor.
REED TOPS OUT AT 3.45
After easily clearing her first bar at 3.45, Brown's pole vault teammate
Maddi Reed got over 3.60 on her first try as well, before a bit of bad luck ultimately ended her day.
While Reed's body got over, her momentum pushed her pole forward into the bar, knocking it down. Reed got two more cracks at 3.60 but was unable to clear, putting her in a tie for 16th in the final standings.
