GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Two days after nearly winning a national title in pole vault,
Emerson VanScoy was able to leave the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships with another All-American plaque.
VanScoy finished in a five-way tie for eighth place to secure a share of the last All-American spot in high jump on the final day of competition on Saturday.
All five athletes who tied for the No. 8 spot cleared their first jumps at 1.61 meters before failing to get over at 1.66.
VanScoy also tied for the eighth-best height
at the 2025 Outdoor Championships, topping out at 1.66. But at that meet, she had to settle for 10th place after needing more jumps to clear the height than two of her competitors.
Saturday concluded a hugely successful weekend for the junior from Teays Valley, W.Va., who on Thursday tied for second
with a program-record height of 4.05 meters in pole vault.
After never having multiple All-Americans in the same national event, the Eagles had four this weekend, with
Maddi Reed (fifth, 3.80) and
Makayla Brooks (seventh, 3.75) also earning the distinction in pole vault.
As a team, Midway finished with a program national record 13.2 points, good enough to finish 25th among 68 teams that scored.
The Eagles will look to build further momentum in the outdoor season, which begins in just two weeks at the Pioneer Invitational in Lexington.
