TOPEKA, Kan. - Midway's men's and women's bowling teams made a long trip to Topeka, Kan. over the weekend for the NAIA BCA Invitational, with each team finishing in 12th place.
MEN
In an 18-team field, the Eagles got a pair of top-20 finishers, led by a 12th-place showing from
Vincent Biehn.Â
Biehh, who knocked down 1,034 pins with a five-game average of 206.8, started and finished strongly, rolling a 220 in game one and a 254 in game five.
In 20th place,
Logan Tincher rolled a 1,005 with a 201 average.
Also in the top-50 was
Johnathan Hatcher, who was 32nd with a 976 (195.2 average)
The Eagles also qualified for the 10-team baker field on Sunday as the ninth seed, losing 4-2 in a best-of-seven format against No. 2 Saint Xavier.
The two teams split the first four matches, with Midway winning 175-145 in game two and 205-175 in game four, before Saint Xavier won the final two.
WOMEN
In the 20-team field, the Eagles were led by
Savanna Hoyt-Siler, who came in 46th with a score of 827.
Averaging 165.4 pins per-game, Hoyt-Siler's best performance was a 199 in the fourth.
Maggie Coleman and
Kaitlyn McNutt narrowly missed the top-50, finishing 51st and 52nd respectively. Coleman rolled an 806, McNutt a 798.
Before and extended winter break, the Eagles will take part in the McKendree National Match Games in Fairview Heights, Ill. next Saturday and Sunday.
