MARIETTA, Ga. - The Midway men's bowling team had an impressive sixth-place showing at the Tier-I Bowlero South Collegiate Classic over the weekend, led by a fourth-place performance by
Charlie Smith.
The Eagles had a 4,957 in team play and a 3,222 in Baker for a final score of 8,179. Midway topped 1,000 pins in two of five team games, rolling a 1,033 in game two and a 1,020 in game five.
Smith was one of three bowlers to knock down 1,130 pins and a 226 average and ended play with a 280 in game five, the highest single-round score of anyone in the 212-man field.
Logan Tincher was second on the team in 30th place, rolling a 1,011 with a 202.2 average. Tincher's top game was 237 in game four.
Coming in 50th was
Ryan Tuite with a 967 (193.4 average), topping 200 pins in game one (209) and three (206).
The Eagles eclipsed 200 in 11 of 16 Baker games, headlined by a 233 in the ninth.
Midway gets a week off before traveling to Topeka, Kan. for the NAIA BCA Invitational on Nov. 14-16.
