Men's volleyball drops home opener to Mt. Saint Joseph

MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway was unable to build on a second-set win, as Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) earned its second 3-1 victory over the Eagles in the last 19 days, winning 25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18 in Midway's home opener Wednesday.

The Eagles never led the opening set then fell behind 13-10 in the second before rallying to score seven of the next eight points, taking a 17-14 lead on a Jai'Den Chinnis block.

The Lions stormed back to tie it at 17 only for Midway to go on another run, this time 5-1. The Eagles went ahead 22-18 on a Lincoln Anderson service ace and held on to even the match at one.

Anderson led all players with four aces.

The momentum would be short-lived, though, as Mount Saint Joseph recorded a very good .390 hitting percentage over the final two sets and out-hit Midway .302 to .122 for the night.

Chinnis led Midway with 10 kills. Jordan Daily (18) and Noah Fichter (11) with both recorded double-digit assists while Braden Cacek tied for the match lead with 13 digs for the 0-2 Eagles, who have suffered both of their losses at the hands of the Lions.

Midway is back home Monday to face Milligan (Tenn.) at 5 p.m. This match was originally slated to be played Tuesday, but was delayed due by bad weather.
