Women's golf opens spring at heavily ranked Ice Keiser Kup

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Midway opened the spring portion of its women's golf schedule at a loaded tournament that featured multiple NCAA Division-II programs and the No. 1 team in the NAIA.

Taking part in the three-day Kona Ice Keiser Kup, the Eagles placed fifth in a six-team field with a final score of 1,015, which was 151 strokes over-par.

Top-ranked and defending NAIA national champion Keiser shot a +62 score of 926, coming in 13 strokes ahead of D-II Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) and 24 ahead of Texas Wesleyan, the No. 6 team in in the NAIA.

Freshman Kasey Cameron led the way for the Eagles, finishing in a tie for 15th with a +27 score of 243. Cameron, who recorded a birdie on the par-five first hole on day one, entered the final round just outside the top-10 after shooting an 80 on the opening day and a 79 on the second.

Maryssa Phillips came in 23rd with a 254 (+38). Phillips' final round was her best, as her +10, 82 helped her climb five spots in the final standings.

Bree Smith also made a move on the last day, jumping from 33rd to 29th after a final round 86. Smith shot 47-over for the tournament with a final tally of 263.
