GRAYSON, Ky. - Midway finished a whopping 66 shots clear of the rest of the field, closing the regular season with a dominant win at the Kentucky Christian Women's Golf Spring Invitational, a two-round, two-day event that concluded Tuesday.
The six golfers the Eagles sent to the tournament finished inside the top-seven, as they shot an 81-over par, 657. Second-place Bluefield (Va.) finished 147 shots over par.
Midway held the top four spots on the leaderboard, led by medalist
Kasey Cameron, who carded a 158 (+14). It was another standout performance by Cameron, who has been named River States Conference Player of the Week each of the last two week.
Five shots behind her in second was Savannah Salcli, who shot a team-best 79 (+7) in the second round. In third at 165 (+21) was
Anna New, while
Anna Simpson was six shots back of her in fourth.
The Eagles also came out in sixth and seventh, with
Kelsay Collins shooting a 174 (+30) and
Haley Rice shooting a 180 (+36).
This wasÂ
the second win in three tournaments for the Eagles to close the regular season.Â
They now will look
for a repeat championship at the River States Conference Championships, which will be held at Glade Springs Resort in Daniels W. Va. on May 3-5.
