MIDWAY, Ky. - Agustina Olivero and
Mara Guillen were selected the the All-River States Conference Women's Tennis First Team for the third year in a row Wednesday, as a total of five Eagles were honored by the league.
The duo continued their run as arguably the best doubles pair in the RSC, putting up a 9-2 record at the No. 1 spot while going undefeated in conference play.
Olivero also went 11-3 playing No. 1 singles. In three years at Midway, she has as singles record of 37-7.
In addition to her doubles dominance, Guillen was also undefeated in singles play against River States competition, going 6-0 without dropping a set at the No. 2 position.
Joining them were first-time honorees
Tanit Cevada,
Sofia Rueda and
Angelia Herrera.Â
In her first year with the program, Cevada made the Second Team with a 10-4 singles record, playing primarily in the No. 3 position. She also went 8-4 in doubles alongside Third-Team selection Rueda.
In singles, Rueda went 9-4 while seeing time at the No. 2, 4 and 5 positions.
Herrera won five singles matches and five more in doubles with partner
Nana Hishida to land on the Third Team in her senior season.
The Eagles will be the No. 2 seed at this weekend's River States Conference Championships in Evansville, Ind., opening in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. Friday. They will face either No. 3 Indiana Kokomo or No. 6 Indiana East, who square off in a first-round match Friday morning.
