MIDWAY, Ky. - Year four for the Midway sprint football program will begin against a tough opponent on its home field.
For the second year in a row, the Eagles begin the season against Saint Mary of the Woods (Ind.), with this opener to be played at the Midway Turf Field on Sept. 13. The Pomeroys have been the Midwest Sprint Football League regular season champion each of the last two seasons.
The two teams also faced off in the first round of the MSFL playoffs a season ago, where the Eagle offense
set several program records, but SMWC came away with a 56-42 win.
That is the first of four home games Midway will play, the others coming against Quincy (Ill.) on Sept. 27, Oakland City (Ind.) on Oct. 25 and two-time defending MSFL champion Calumet (Ind.) in the regular-season finale on Nov. 1.
Week two will bring about the latest installment of the Battle of the Bourbon Barrel game against in-state foe Bellarmine in Louisville Sept. 20.
In the 2025 season, the MSFL will be split into two, three-team divisions. The Eagles will also play road games fellow Blue Division opponents St. Mary of the Woods (Oct. 4) and Quincy (Oct. 18).
