HENDERSON, Tenn. - Midway freshman
Sloane Pollock made another critical, late-game play, scoring on a penalty kick with 2:33 remaining and Midway came from behind for a thrilling 3-2 win at Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon.
In the 87th minute, the Eagles were in great position to break the tie on a
Kylie Hudgins penalty kick, only for her shot be be denied by Lion goalie Avery Branch.
But exactly one minute later, Pollock was fouled and took advantage of her opportunity, pushing a shot by Branch in the lower left corner of the net for what proved to be the game-winner.
In three games this season, Pollock has scored five goals. This was her second act of late-game heroics,
as she scored with just under six minutes to play to force a 2-2 tie in the season opener at Berea.
Tied 1-1 at halftime, Midway allowed a goal 10 minutes into the second half before tying the score again when
Chloe Kemper scored in the 75th minute.
Hudgins scored the lone first half goal for the Eagles, who improved to 2-0-1 while playing their first game in two weeks.
Midway will finally get to play its first home game of the 2025 season next Saturday, when visiting Cincinnati-Clermont comes to town at 1 p.m.
