LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Midway hunt seat got off to a great start, as the Eagles got a combined six wins while four riders qualified for regionals at the University of Louisville Shows over the weekend.
Regional qualifiers were
Reese Dorsey in intermediate flat,
Ella Hutcherson in novice and
Sophia Quattrocchi and
Cassandra Doucette in limit flat.
Dorsey,
a defending national champion in limit flat, was in championship form Saturday, earning a win in intermediate flat competition. She was one of three Eagle winners on day one, joined by
Zoe Macbeth in intermediate fences and
Hannah Holden in pre-novice.
Hutcherson and
Finley Scheffel closed Saturday with runner-up finishes in novice flat and intermediate flat respectively.
Midway got three more wins on day two Sunday, with the Eagles taking the top two spots in both limit flat and intermediate fences.
Doucette and
Kathryne Hammond were first and second in limit flat, while
Riley Whelan and Scheffel were first and second in intermediate fences.
The excellent all-around performance helped Scheffel earned reserve high-point rider honors.
Also earning a win was
Ann Graves, who came out on top in the introductory division.
The Eagles are right back at it next Sunday, traveling to Lexington for the University of Kentucky Shows.
