PLYMOUTH, Ind. - The Midway women's golf team continued the fall season with a fifth-place finish at the 10-team Pretty Lake Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday.
The Eagles finished the two-day, three-round tournament with a 145 over-par score of 1,009, finishing seven strokes behind fourth-place Olivet Nazarene (Ill.).
Bethel (Ind.), the No. 24 team in the country, won with a 983 (+119), finishing ahead of in-state foes Huntington and Grace by five and seven shots respectively.
The top performance from Midway came from
Anna New, who shot a +36 score of 252. New's best round was the second, where she shot an 81 (+9) with a birdies on the par-four first and 13th holes.
One spot and one stroke behind New was fellow sophomore
Kasey Cameron. Cameron shot an 80 in round two, the best individual round by an Eagle for the tournament.
Savannah Salchli was one shot back of Cameron in a tie for 18th place. Salchli led the Eagles with a +11 score of 83 Tuesday
Tying for 20th place with a 257 (+41) was
Anna Simpson, while
Kelsay Collins tied for 23rd with a 259.
Rounding things out in 40th place was
Kyrie Dickenson, who shot a 271 (+55),
With the River States Conference Fall Preview fast approaching, Midway has one more tune-up on Sept. 20-21, when it travels to Venore, Tenn. for the Tennessee Wesleyan Fall Classic.
