GRAYSON, Ky. - An offense that struggled to get going for much of the year found its rhythm in a big way Tuesday, as Midway had one of the best shooting nights in program history in a 101-91, River States Conference men's basketball win over Kentucky Christian on Tuesday.
The Eagles made 42-of-68 field goal attempts, the 61.8 percent shooting percentage being the second-best single-game mark in the history of the program. The only one to top it was a 75-percent effort in a 157-135 win over Greenville (Ill.) on Nov. 26, 2021,
the highest-ever scoring game by and Eagle team.
The driving force against the Knights was
Sam Parrish, who scored a career-best 27 points while making 12-of-13 shot attempts.
The slashing guard led an interior attack that saw Midway make 70 percent (38-of-54) of its 2-point shots.
He got plenty of help from
Dontavius King and
Amari Wales, who had 24 and 19 points respectively, with each hitting 9-of-13 from the floor.
All five Eagle starters scored in double figures, as
Decoreio Smith and
Maurice Washington Williams both finished with 11.
Williams also led all players with eight rebounds, as Midway ended the night with a 40-25 edge on the glass.
The win was the Eagles' third in a row and moved them above .500 in the RSC at 3-2. They are 6-9 overall.
Next up for Midway is a 3 p.m. home game against Saint Mary of the Woods on Saturday in the River States Conference Game of the Week.
