INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Midway University's men's and women's bowling teams are set to return to competition this weekend as they travel to Indianapolis for the Columbia 300 Western Shootout.
MEN
After finishing in the upper half of the field at their most recent tournament, placing 24th overall, the men's team will look to build on that performance when it returns to competition Saturday, Oct. 10.
Several returning bowlers, including Vincent Biehn, Charlie Smith, Johnathan Hatcher, Noah Seng and Christopher Smith, will compete in this year's tournament after gaining experience at the event in previous seasons.
Biehn will be one of the bowlers to watch following a strong performance at last year's Columbia 300 Western Shootout. He averaged 225.83 pins per game across six games. Coming off a 51st-place finish at the Brunswick Midwest Collegiate Championship, Biehn will look to build on his early-season performance.
Charlie Smith will also look to continue his success at the tournament after averaging 219.17 pins per game in last year's competition.
WOMEN
The women's team is coming off a 30th-place finish at its most recent tournament and will look to continue making progress this weekend.
At last year's Columbia 300 Western Shootout, the Eagles placed 21st overall, with multiple bowlers averaging more than 150 pins per game.
Savanna Hoyt-Siler will be one of the returning bowlers to watch after a strong performance at last year's event. Hoyt-Siler finished 23rd overall in a field of more than 200 bowlers, averaging 192.17 pins per game.
Kaitlyn McNutt will also look to build on last season's performance after averaging 159 pins per game at the event.
LOOKING AHEAD
Both teams will look to use their previous experience at the Columbia 300 Western Shootout as they return to Indianapolis this weekend.
With several returning bowlers who have competed at the event, the Eagles will look to build momentum as they continue their 2026-27 campaign.
Competition begins Saturday, Oct. 10, in Indianapolis.
