OPELIKA, Ala. - The Midway women's golf team began the 2026 season with a fourth-place finish at the eight-team, talent-heavy Lawrence Tech Spring Break Invitational, a three-day event that concluded on Thursday.
The Eagles shot a 1,008 as a team, which was 144-over par for the tournament. Perhaps the most significant part of the weekend was finishing five strokes ahead of River States Conference rival Indiana East, which was three strokes ahead of Midway entering the final round of action.
Loyola (La.), the No. 10 team in the country, won easily with a 937 (+73). Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) was a distant second with a 973 while No. 22 Lawrence Tech finished third with a 985.
Sophomore
Kasey Cameron, the reigning RSC Golfer of the Year, led the way with a 10th-place, 29-over par score of 245. Cameron's best day was an 80 (+8) on day one, which included an eagle on the par-four sixth hole.
Savannah Salchli cracked the top-20 as well, tying for 20th with a 253 (+37). Salchli was three strokes better than
Anna Simpson and four ahead of
Kelsay Collins, who finished 23rd and tied for 24th respectively.
Elsewhere,
Anna New placed 29th with a 266 (+50) and
Kyrie Dickenson tied for 33rd with a 275 (+59).
Midway is slated to return to action on Monday, opening the two-day Blue Raider Spring Invitational at the Pines of Lindsey Wilson in Columbia, Ky.
