GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Midway Men's Soccer will open their 2026 season on Wednesday night as they travel to face Georgetown College at Toyota Stadium with kick-off slated for 7:00 pm.

The Eagles will look very familiar from their successful 2025 campaign. Midway returns its leading scorer from the 2025 season in George Spencer, who paced the Eagles with five goals and 17 shots on goal while finishing third on the team with five assists. Also returning is goalkeeper Landon Sorrell, who started 14 of the 15 matches he appeared in. Sorrell set a new single-season program record with a .722 save percentage while posting a 5-6-2 record and recording three shutouts.

As a team, the Eagles established a new single-season program record with 34 assists, surpassing the previous mark of 32 set by the 2020 squad. Midway also recorded 40 goals during the 2025 campaign, the second-highest single-season total in program history, trailing only the 42 goals scored by the 2020 team. The Eagles also found the back of the net seven times in two matches last season—against Defiance and Kentucky Christian—tying for the fourth-most goals scored in a single game in program history.

Stu Riddle enters his second season at the helm of the men's program.  "I thought we made a lot of progress, since I got here last January" said Riddle when asked about his first season during the River States Conference media day. "We want to be better every time we step onto the field. We are happy with what we did last year but we aren't resting on that, we want to be better".

Midway was predicted to finish third in the preseason coaches poll by the league office. "It's really nice, I know that the program has not been in the semi-finals in nine years until last season. It is nice to get the recognition and respect from the other coaches, but as I tell the players 'its not worth the paper that it's written on' they got to go out and perform on the field and it is my job to get them ready".

These two sides have met just four times and the Tigers having a commanding record of 0-3-1. That draw came last season. Midway enters after a successful 2025 season making it to the RSC semi-finals before falling to the national champion runner-ups in WVU Tech.
