MIDWAY, Ky. -- The Midway women's soccer team returned to the Midway Turf Field on Friday afternoon, falling 4-0 to Johnson University (Tenn.) in non-conference action.

The loss drops the Eagles to 2-2 on the season, while the Royals improve to 2-2.

Johnson struck first in the 13th minute when Lanie Willis found the back of the net off an assist from Ainsley Ballard, giving the visitors an early 1-0 advantage.

The Royals doubled their lead just under 12 minutes later. Ciarrah Turner scored in the 25th minute to push the Johnson advantage to 2-0, a score that would hold through the remainder of the opening half.

Despite facing consistent pressure from the Johnson attack, goalkeeper Lillian Klee helped keep the Eagles within striking distance. The sophomore recorded six saves in the opening 45 minutes as the Royals put seven of their nine first-half shots on frame.

Midway looked to generate some momentum early in the second half. Addison Hazlett put a pair of shots on goal within a span of just over three minutes, forcing Johnson goalkeeper Ella Murr into saves in the 58th and 61st minutes. The Eagles also earned their first corner kick of the contest during the stretch.

The Royals, however, put the game out of reach late in the half. Campbell Blair extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 77th minute following an assist from Molly Ketterman before Monica Bownds capped the scoring in the 87th minute.

Johnson finished the afternoon with a 19-3 advantage in shots and placed 13 attempts on goal. Hazlett accounted for two of Midway's three shots, putting both on frame, while Chloe Kemper recorded the Eagles' other attempt.

Klee played all 90 minutes in goal for Midway and finished with a season-high nine saves.
