DANIELS, W. Va - Midway men's golf team returns to action at the River States Conference Fall Preview in Daniels, West Virginia on Monday.
Midway enters the tournament following a third-place finish out of 10 teams at the Pretty Lake Intercollegiate. The Eagles finished the tournament at 14-over par, just seven strokes behind first-place Pikeville University.
Eli Stamper led the way for the Eagles at the Pretty Lake Intercollegiate. Stamper carded a 2-under 70 in the final round and was later named the River States Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for his performance.
Logan Knipe, Tristan Mitchell, Gabe Cole and Jackson Whitaker also contributed to Midway's third-place finish, shooting 1-over, 4-over, 5-over and 6-over, respectively.
Looking ahead to the RSC Fall Preview, head coach Otis Smith expects course conditions to play a significant role in the tournament.
"Cooler and windy conditions are expected today and in tomorrow's first round," Smith said. "Course is in good shape, and greens are fast and rough is high, so scoring will be at a premium."
Smith believes keeping the ball in play will be a key to success.
"This tournament will come down to which team drives the ball in play," Smith said.
