MIDWAY, Ky. — After a standout performance to open the 2026 season, Midway men's cross country senior Carson Milner has been named the River States Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.
Milner earned the honor following a runner-up finish at the IWU Twilight Invitational on Friday in Marion, Indiana.
The Walton, Kentucky native finished second out of 237 runners, completing the 6K course in 18:33.71. Milner crossed the finish line just 1.4 seconds behind the individual champion.
The senior's performance came against a highly competitive field that featured several nationally ranked programs, including No. 1 Cumberlands and No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan. Milner finished ahead of runners from some of the top programs in the NAIA on his way to the runner-up finish.
The performance continued an impressive stretch for Milner after a strong 2025 campaign. He earned First Team All-River States Conference honors with a fourth-place finish at the RSC Championship before qualifying for the NAIA Cross Country National Championship, where he finished 80th.
Milner and the Eagles will return to action on Friday, Sept. 18, when they host the Midway Invitational in Versailles, Kentucky.
