Women's Soccer moves to 2-0 with route of KCU

Grayson, Ky. – The Midway women's soccer team moved their record to 2-0 on the season on Tuesday, September 13th, when they defeated Kentucky Christian University 8-1.

The high-powered Eagles offense scored 10 goals in their first game against Johnson (Tenn.) and they followed that up with eight more against KCU for 18 on the season. The Midway defense has also been solid on the season allowing one goal in 180 minutes.

After scoring four goals in her first game as a Midway Eagle, Kindsay Miller-Riney (Bardstown, Ky.) did it again scoring four more against Kentucky Christian. Miller-Riney now has eight goals on the season to go along with her two assists.

Larissa Cussins (Cheyenne, Wyo.) got the scoring started against KCU with a goal and an assist by Haley Ennis (Elizabethtown, Ky.).

Ennis would find her name in the scoring column for the Eagles by scoring the next goal off a pass by Sara Herbert (Louisville, Ky.). Ennis would also add another assist on one of Miller-Riney's four goals.

After Miller-Riney scored fourth goal of the game on an assist by Ciara Weir (Cox's Creek, Ky.), Rachel Lewis (Ajax, Ontario, Canada) had a breakaway and scored an unassisted goal for Midway.

The final goal was when Dana White (Columbus, Ohio) served a ball into the box to find a cutting Hala Ayyash (Somerset, Ky.) who finished with her first goal of her collegiate career.

Getting the starting nod and picking up the win in goal for the Eagles was senior, Lauren Schuster (Boston, Ky.). Schuster allowed one goal while making a save in the first half.

Emily Belt (Paducah, Ky.) and Rebekah McKee (Rossville, Ind.) split time in goal in the second half. Belt played the first 38 minutes in goal, while McKee played the final seven minutes.
