Live Scoring | Round Three Pairings
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – For the third consecutive day, Mother Nature wreaked havoc at the 2017 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The third round was originally supposed to take place on Thursday, but after the second round was suspended on Wednesday, teams were forced to finish their second round on Thursday.
Teams began finishing up their second round on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m., an hour later than scheduled. With 14 holes remaining, another storm came through and caused a six and a half hour weather delay. The second round continued play at 5:30 p.m. allowing the final five groups to finish the round.
Inclement weather forced delays in the first and second rounds of the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship as the tournament was cut after 36 holes to the top 17 teams and 40 individuals plus ties after the competition of the second round Thursday evening. The final round is scheduled to tee off at 7:30 a.m. ET on Friday morning.
At the conclusion of the second round, Midway finishes in 23rd place with a two-round total of 688. The Eagles shot a 341 in the first round and a 347 in the second round.
With their 23rd finish at the end of the second round, the Eagles unfortunately miss the 36-hole cut. The final team to make the cut was Faulkner (Ala.) who shot a 664 in their first two rounds.
On the bright side for the Eagles, Kathryn Lawler, a junior from Georgetown, Ky., did make the cut and will play her third and final round on Friday morning.
Lawler opened the tournament with a 75 (37-38) in her opening round on Tuesday. At the end of her first round, she was in a tie for fourth place. After shooting an 83 (38-45) in the second round, Lawler sits in a tie for 19th place. She trails the leader by eight strokes entering Friday.
Other scores for Midway include: Hannah Scroggins (Williamstown, Ky.) with a 176 (88-88), Amanda Cox (Willisburg, Ky.) with a 177 (92-85), Chelsea Schack (Alexandria, Ky.) with a 181 (88-93) and Rylee Beard (Campbellsville, Ky.) also with a 181 (90-91).
