DANVILLE, Ky. -- After practicing for the last few weeks, the Midway University women's bowling team made their long-awaited debut this past weekend at the Green River Classic at Bowlarama Lanes in Danville, Kentucky.
As a team, Michael Hall's squad finished in seventh place with a total of 5,571 pins. They finished behind Tennessee Wesleyan in sixth with 5,801 pins and Bethel (Tenn.) in fifth with 5,807 pins.
Mid-South Conference foe, Campbellsville (Ky.) took home the top spot with 6,540 pins, while Union (Ky.) finished runner-up with 6,461 pins.
Finishing within five pins of one another was the freshman duo of Hannah King (Lexington, Ky.) and Taylor Petrey (Corbin, Ky.). King finished in 22nd with 799 total pins, while Petrey finished in 23rd with 794 pins. King had a high game of a 183 and Petrey bowled a high game of a 190.
Not too far behind King and Petrey was freshman, Taylor Rust (Nicholasville, Ky.). Rust averaged just over a 155 and tallied 778 total pins with a high game of a 168 which she bowled in two of her five games.
Finishing within one pin of each other was the freshman duo of Trista Lee (Danville, Ky.) and Ashley Smith (Nicholasville, Ky.). Both averaged a 142 with Lee totaling 713 pins and Smith collecting 712 pins. Lee had a high game of a 180 with Smith bowling a 157 in her high game.
Midway will now have the next couple of weeks to practice as they return to action on October 5-6. They'll compete in the MSC Louisville Collegiate Classic at Fern Valley Strike & Spare before competing in the Thomas Burris Classic at Executive Strike & Spare.
