MIDWAY, Ky. – Midway University esports entered the week looking to keep a pair of undefeated records intact and continue to build upon a strong start this year. Both Rocket League and Overwatch were able to stay on their winning streaks while League of Legends suffered a 2-0 loss against the No. 1 ranked team in their division.
With the wins, the Eagles have improved to an 11-3 overall record this season.
Rocket League improved its record to 4-0 when it earned a 3-1 victory over the Limestone University (S.C.) junior varsity squad. The team was led by Nate Martin (Pickerington, Ohio) who scored seven goals, handed out three assists and notched eight saves in the series.
Lonnie W. Loveless III (Somerset, Ky.) led the team with four assists and came up big on the defensive end with six saves. Trevor Alexander (Somerset, Ky.) scored six goals and added an assist along with a trio of saves.
Overwatch faced off with Rio Grande (Ohio) on Thursday evening and was able to pick up a 3-1 victory over the RedStorm. With the win, Overwatch improves to 2-0 on the campaign.
The League of Legends team faced off with Adrian College (Mich.). In a hard-fought contest, the Eagles dropped a 2-0 decision against the top ranked team in the division.
The Call of Duty team was not in action as they received a bye this week.
Coach Alyssa Tinker's squadron of gamers return to action on Friday, October 14 when Rocket League faces off against the Bradley University (Ill.) Black team at 8 p.m.. Call of Duty will take on Queens University (N.C.) and Western University (Ont.) on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. League of Legends will play the University of Windsor (Ont.) at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19 and the Overwatch team will compete on Thursday, October 20 with the time and opponent to be announced.
