MIDWAY, Ky. – As the days continue to get shorter, the Midway esports team is wrapping up its regular season for the fall semester. This past week saw the Overwatch squad compile a 2-1 record while Rocket League and League of Legends each suffered a loss against fierce competition.
With this week's results, the Eagles have compiled an overall record of 18-12.
In Overwatch, the Eagles opened their week with a 3-0 sweep against Defiance (Ohio) on Sunday. Hunter Yeager (Sulphur, Ky.) led the offensive effort with 75 eliminations and 26,171 damage while Savanna Neace (Cynthiana, Ky.) scored 73 eliminations and caused 23,369 damage to her foes.
Trevor Alexander (Somerset, Ky.) chipped in on the offense effort with 70 eliminations and caused 19,822 damage. On the healing side of the game, Lonnie W. Loveless III (Somerset, Ky.) put up 34,200 healing while Caleb Bingham (Frankfort, Ky.) supported his teammates with 26,316 of healing.
On Thursday evening, Overwatch returned to the screens for a doubleheader. In the first match against Clark (Ontario) Obsidian, the Eagles suffered a 3-1 loss. In the final match of the evening, Midway picked up a 3-0 victory over Finlandia (Mich.).
In other action, Rocket League saw its record fall to 5-2 for the campaign with a 3-0 loss against Brescia (Ky.). The League of Legends played on Wednesday night against Northern Illinois and suffered a 2-0 loss to the Huskies while the Call of Duty squad received a bye in the first round of its playoffs and will return to action this week.
Coach Alyssa Tinker's squads will return to action at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, November 11 when the Rocket League team returns to action against Bethel (Tenn.). The Overwatch team sees its regular season conclude on Sunday evening when they face Clark (Ontario) at 7 p.m. ET. The Call of Duty Team, fresh off a bye last week, will compete in a playoff game on Wednesday, November 16 with the time and opponent to be announced.
