Eagles host Tigers for final MSC matchup of 2022 season

MIDWAY, Ky. -- Following a five-set loss to Thomas More (Ky.) on Tuesday, the Midway men's volleyball team was back in action on Thursday (March 24) when they hosted Georgetown (Ky.) in their final Mid-South Conference match of the season.

The Tigers – who are currently ranked No. 14 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 15 Poll – tallied 11 more kills than the Eagles and hit over .300 for the match en route to the 3-0 victory (25-17, 25-14, 25-22).

Following the loss, Jonea Rima's team slips to 8-16 overall, while they finish conference play with a 3-15 mark. Georgetown, meanwhile, finishes their regular season with a 24-5 mark overall and a 16-1 record in MSC play.

Georgetown ranks second in the Mid-South with 12.24 kills per set as they finished Thursday's match with 33 kills in their 55 swings to card a .309 hitting clip. They also recorded 16 blocks as they held Midway to a .033 attacking clip with just 22 kills in their 60 attempts.

Offensively the Eagles were led by Victor Bazzo (Gloria de Dourados, Brazil) and Franzso Severre (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands) who posted nine and six kills, respectively. Jonathan McGuyer (Sierra Vista, Ariz.), meanwhile, finished with five kills and hit .400 for the match.

Daniel Cogo (Padua, Italy) dished out 21 assists and picked up three block assists in the loss.

The Eagles are scheduled to wrap up their regular season on Saturday (March 26) when they host Carlow (Pa.) for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. ET inside Marshall Gymnasium.
