GULF SHORES, Ala. -- After a day of final preparations on Tuesday, the Midway women's track & field duo of Nevaeh Brown and Alexia Schofield competed in the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Wednesday (May 25) in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Leading the way for the Eagles was Nevaeh Brown who was going for the first NAIA All-American honor of her career. The sophomore from Louisville, Ky. was competing in the pole vault as she made her second appearance at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.
Brown opened the event by easily clearing 3.45m on her first try. She then skipped 3.55m before clearing 3.60m on her second try and 3.65m on her first attempt. Brown was unable to go any further, but her vault of 3.65 meters in windy conditions was good enough for a podium finish in fourth overall.
With her fourth-place finish, Brown was named an NAIA All-American for the first time in her career. She becomes the second Midway track & field athlete in program history to earn All-American status.
Alexia Schofield competed in the 200-meter dash and made her first appearance at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. The sophomore from Miramar, Fla. was seeded 28th, but finished in 24th with a final time of 25.35.
Both Brown and Schofield are set to return for their junior campaigns in the 2022-23 season.
