ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- After earning qualifying standards throughout the outdoor season, the Midway track & field quartet of
Cate Coppola,
Trinity Gottler,
Maddi Reed, and
Emerson VanScoy are set to compete at the 2026 NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships beginning Wednesday.
After being held in Marion, Indiana, in recent years, the 45th Annual NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships have moved to Karl Straus Track in Asheville, North Carolina. The three-day event begins Wednesday, May 20, and concludes Friday, May 22.
For Coppola, the national championship meet marks her debut on the national stage, while Gottler, Reed, and VanScoy are each making return appearances after competing at last year's outdoor national championships.

Below is a look at each Eagle competing at the NAIA National Championships.
Cate Coppola
Event: Pole Vault
Competition Date: May 20 at 11:30 a.m. ET
Coppola, a true freshman from Greensburg, Kentucky, is set to make her national championship debut after steadily improving throughout the outdoor season.
At the Pioneer Invite on March 21, she cleared 3.40 meters before winning the pole vault competition two weeks later at the Centre Outdoor Invitational with a mark of 3.53 meters.
Her steady progression paid off at the River States Conference Outdoor Championships on May 1. After failing to clear a height at the indoor conference championships, Coppola hit the NAIA 'B' standard and captured her first conference championship by clearing 3.68 meters.
Trinity Gottler
Event: Javelin
Competition Date: May 21 at 7 p.m. ET
Gottler looks to build off her performance at the 2025 outdoor national championships, where she placed 26th in the javelin with a throw of 34.57 meters.
The junior from Lexington, Kentucky, opened the outdoor season in impressive fashion by hitting the NAIA 'B' standard in the first meet of the season on March 21.
After not competing during the indoor season, Gottler recorded a throw of 41.65 meters, which not only secured a national qualifying standard, but also broke her own program record.
Maddi Reed
Event: Pole Vault
Competition Date: May 20 at 11:30 a.m. ET
Reed, who earned her first All-American honor at the 2026 NAIA Indoor National Championships, will look to add another national accolade Wednesday. The sophomore placed fifth at indoor nationals after clearing 3.80 meters.
A native of Shelbyville, Kentucky, Reed will also be seeking redemption at the outdoor national championships after failing to clear a height during last season's meet.
Reed opened the outdoor season by winning the pole vault competition at the Pioneer Invite with a mark of 3.40 meters before clearing 3.67 meters at the Jim Vargo Invitational. She later hit the NAIA 'B' standard at the Centre Twilight on April 17 with a clearance of 3.68 meters.
Emerson VanScoy
Events: Pole Vault & High Jump
Competition Dates: May 20 at 11:30 a.m. ET (Pole Vault) | May 22 at 2 p.m. ET (High Jump)
VanScoy enters the outdoor national championships looking to cap an already remarkable season. At the indoor national championships, she earned two All-American honors after finishing as the national runner-up in pole vault (4.05 meters) and tying for eighth in high jump (1.61 meters).
The outdoor season started slowly for the senior from Teays Valley, West Virginia, but she found her rhythm at the NKU Invitational, where she hit the NAIA 'A' standard in pole vault after clearing 3.80 meters.
Less than a week later at the Centre Twilight, VanScoy earned her second 'A' standard of the outdoor season, this time in high jump with a clearance of 1.70 meters. At the same meet, she narrowly missed the 'B' standard in long jump with a mark of 5.71 meters.
VanScoy's top outdoor pole vault mark came at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open, where she cleared 3.82 meters.
