DANVILLE, Ky. - Emerson VanScoy and
Maddi Reed hit national qualifying standards and Midway finished in the top-two of seven events in women's track and field competition at the Centre Twilight on Friday.
Six days after becoming
a national 'A' standard qualifier in pole vault, VanScoy proceeded to hit the 'A' in high jump on Friday, clearing the exact qualifying height of 1.70 meters. She finished second to the 1.75-meter finish of Centre's Serena McNeilly.
Vanscoy, an Indoor All-American in
pole vault and
high jump this season, also earned a win and narrowly missed a qualifying standard in long jump Friday. Her distance of 5.71 meters was just .07 shy of the 'B' standard.
Reed, who was also a pole vault All-American during indoor season, clinched a return trip to Outdoor Nationals by hitting the 'B' standard height of 3.78 Friday.
Between indoor and outdoor, Reed is now a four-time national qualifier. She placed second in pole vault Friday, trailing only the 3.78 height of Carolina Bannach of NCAA Division-I Western Kentucky.
The Midway women now have three national qualifiers in four field events, with VanScoy and Reed being joined by national javelin qualifier
Trinity Gottler.
Gottler continued her excellent junior season with a win in javelin (39.96) and fourth-place finishes in hammer throw (44.83) and shot put (12.66).
The Eagles also earned a win on the track side, with
Ariah Egleston taking first in the 3000 steeplechase in 12:59.25.

Macy Adams,
Alarra Cobbins and
Maricacamila Navarro ran a 12:02.82, while the 4x100 squad of
Kashlynn Rice,
Lillian Alcorn, Reed and
Emilee Cecil finish in 50.46 seconds.Â
Others to place were
