Box Score MIDWAY, Ky. - Needing to get right after a few tough losses, the Midway women's soccer team did just that on Sunday, riding a balanced offensive attack and dominant defense to crush Berea 5-0 at the Midway Soccer Field.
Maggie Sauer got things rolling just 4:21 into the game, when a re-directed ball found its way to her foot, which she pushed passed Mountaineer goalie Korie Dickson.
Though several Eagles got in on the scoring, Haylee Applegate was the standout, as she scored back-to-back goals in the 12th and 26th minutes, before assisting on a Belle Dotson goal in the second half.
Madison Land also scored an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute, giving Midway a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Continuing to alternate between the first and second halves, Caylee Thompson and Yasmeen Shalash combined for a shutout for the 4-2 Eagles.
Midway's next three games will be on the road against River States Conference opponents, starting with a 4:30 p.m. match against IUPUC next Saturday.
