MIDWAY, Ky. - After an opening-game win on Wednesday evening, the Eagles conclude their homestand as they host Defiance on Sunday afternoon at Midway Turf Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.

This will be the third meeting between the Eagles and YellowJackets, with Midway taking each of the first two contests. The first meeting came on Aug. 31, 2024, when Midway scored six times in a 6-0 victory. The second came 364 days later, when the Eagles earned a 2-0 victory. Midway has yet to allow a goal against Defiance.

In the first contest, Haylee Applegate got things going early with a tally in the 12th minute before adding her second in the 54th minute. Anna Kneisley, Anna Kessinger, Evie Clare and Maggie Sauer also found the back of the net. In the second contest, it was Sloane Pollock who provided the offense, finding the back of the net twice.

The 2025 and 2026 seasons have started nearly identicalfor the Eagles, as they opened both campaigns against Berea before facing Defiance. This time, however, both contests are at home. The Eagles defeated Berea 1-0 on Wednesday night courtesy of a Sloane Pollock penalty kick. Lillian Klee earned her first collegiate win in goal, while Bryce Brockman picked up his first career victory as a head coach.

The Yellow Jackets enter Sunday's matinee with a 1-1 record on the young campaign. They dropped their season opener 7-0 to Saint Francis (Ind.) before bouncing back with a 4-1 victory over Calumet (Ind.) on Tuesday evening. Lilli Plovic scored twice in the victory for Defiance.

Helping the YellowJackets offensively has been Ava Boothe, who has recorded two assists this season. Boothe and Plovic are two of 10 freshmen on the Defiance roster.
