Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - Midway struggled to find answers against one of the top scoring offenses in the country, as 13th-ranked Cumberlands raced past the Eagles 98-72 on the last day of the Patriot Women's Basketball Classic Tuesday.
The Patriots entered the day ninth in the NAIA in scoring and were able to exceed their 96.2 points-per-game average, exhausting the Eagle defense with their excellent ball movement and great balance.
All five Cumberlands starters finished in double figures, with Channing Lewis coming off the bench for an 11-point, 13-rebound, 10-assist triple-double.
Any chance the Eagles had at a comeback were squashed after the Patriots outscored them 24-8 in the third quarter, finishing the period off on a 16-2 run to take a 79-49 lead.
Jaiden Douthit had one of her more efficient games of the young season, scoring a team-high 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Kassidy Daugherty finished with 12 points.
Alyssa Hitch led the team with nine rebounds and Jermyra Christian had three assists and three steals for the Eagles, who fall to 2-4 on the season.
Midway is back in action Saturday when it hosts Lindsey Wilson at 4 p.m.
