MIDWAY, Ky. -- Midway University and Head Coach Kylee Gorby have announced the 2026-27 women's basketball schedule, which features a challenging non-conference slate, two NCAA Division I exhibition contests and several matchups against teams coming off national tournament appearances.
The Eagles will begin their fourth season under Gorby on Oct. 23 when they travel to Owensboro, Kentucky, for the Brescia Classic. Midway opens the event against Montreat College (N.C.) before taking on Mission University the following afternoon.
The Eagles will then travel to Northern Kentucky University on Oct. 29 for the first of two NCAA Division I exhibition contests before returning to regular-season action against Indiana University South Bend on Oct. 31.
Midway will face some of its toughest competition of the season at the Pikeville Classic on Nov. 6-7. The Eagles open the event against the University of Saint Francis (Ind.), which finished the 2025-26 regular season ranked No. 6 in the final NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Cougars advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship last season.
The following day, Midway will face Taylor University, which received votes in the final national poll and earned an at-large bid to the 2026 NAIA National Championship.
Midway's second NCAA Division I exhibition comes on Nov. 10 when the Eagles travel to Richmond, Kentucky, to face Eastern Kentucky University.
The Eagles will make their home debut on Nov. 14 when they welcome Defiance College to Marshall Gymnasium at 1 p.m. Following a road contest against Alice Lloyd College on Nov. 17, Midway returns home to face Milligan University on Nov. 23.
Milligan is another challenging opponent on the Eagles' non-conference schedule. The Buffaloes captured both the Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships last season, earning a berth in the NAIA National Championship. Milligan also received votes in the final national poll.
Midway will then host the Midway Classic over Thanksgiving weekend, highlighted by a matchup against Marian University (Ind.) on Nov. 28.
The Knights finished the 2025-26 regular season ranked No. 4 nationally and captured both the Crossroads League regular-season and tournament championships. Marian advanced all the way to the NAIA National Championship game, making it one of the most accomplished opponents on Midway's schedule.
The Eagles will close the Midway Classic on Nov. 29 against Brewton-Parker College. Both contests are scheduled for 3 p.m. inside Marshall Gymnasium.
December will see Midway transition into River States Conference play, beginning with a Dec. 1 matchup at Indiana University East. The Eagles will also travel to Harris-Stowe State University, Indiana University Columbus and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College before the calendar turns to 2027.
Midway opens the new year with consecutive home games against Alice Lloyd College on Jan. 2 and the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) on Jan. 5.
Rio Grande enters the upcoming season following another successful campaign. The RedStorm finished the 2025-26 regular season ranked No. 8 nationally and captured both the River States Conference regular-season and tournament championships before earning a berth in the NAIA National Championship.
The Eagles will continue conference play throughout January and February, with home matchups against Indiana University Southeast, Indiana University East, Indiana University Kokomo, Indiana University Columbus, Kentucky Christian University and West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
Midway will conclude its regular-season schedule on Feb. 20 when it welcomes Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College to Marshall Gymnasium.
The Eagles enter the 2026-27 campaign following a 21-win season in 2025-26. Gorby enters her fourth season leading the program as Midway looks to build on its success and compete for a River States Conference championship.
