MIDWAY, Ky. – Despite windstorms knocking out power to campus for four days and spring break taking place, the Midway esports team has continued with its 2022-23 campaign.

Over the past couple of weeks, the Eagles have picked up a pair of victories in CCL Open Division play to go along with a victory in Rocket League and a forfeit victory in Overwatch.

Call of Duty continued its participation in the CCL Open Division on February 26 when it suffered a 3-1 loss to Wisconsin-La Crosse despite a 102-kill performance from Jonathan Cain (Madisonville, Ky.). Two days later, the Eagles picked up a 3-1 victory against South Dakota. After 3-1 losses to DePaul (Ill.) and Louisville, Midway returned to its winning ways when it picked up a 3-0 win against Alma (Mich.).

In a matchup with Robert Morris (Pa.), the Eagles Rocket League team took home a 3-0 victory. The Eagles offense was led by Lonnie Loveless III (Somerset, Ky.) while Trevor Alexander (Somerset, Ky.) added seven goals to go with a pair of assists. Kyle Standifur (Pikeville, Ky.) contributed with a pair of goals and four assists. The Overwatch team also picked up a victory by forfeit over the past few weeks.

In regular season Call of Duty action, the Eagles dropped a pair of 3-0 decisions to Texas-San Antonio and Central Florida. The League of Legends team suffered a 2-0 loss to Southern Illinois-Carbondale before falling 3-1 to Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The Midway Esports team will return to action this week with the Call of Duty team playing a pair of CCL Open Division matches on Tuesday in addition to a regular season match on Wednesday. Joining the Call of Duty team in Wednesday evening action will be the League of Legends team while Overwatch will compete on Thursday night.
