MIDWAY, Ky. - Off to its best start in years, the Midway women's soccer team is earning accolades from the Rivers States Conference.
It was announced Monday that junior forward Evie Clare had been named RSC Offensive Player of the Week, while fellow junior Caylee Thompson earned Defensive Player of the Week for her work in goal.
A transfer from Lake Michigan College, Clare had two goals and an assist in her first two games of action with the Eagles, finding the back of the net in both a 3-0 season-opening win over Union (Ky.) and a 3-1 win over Pikeville (Ky.).
Thompson has yet to allow a goal in 135 minutes of action this season.
This is her second RSC Player of the Week honor and it comes nearly a year to the day after she and former teammate Marissa Sauer swept the conference awards on Sept. 12 of last season.
The 2-0 Eagles, who are off to their best start since 2019, don't play again until Sept. 21, when they open conference play on the road against West Virginia Tech.
