RICHMOND, Ind. - Despite ending the season with a 25-18, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20 loss to Indiana East on Saturday, the Midway women's volleyball team was still able to earn a spot in the River States Conference Tournament.
The Eagles, who finished 6-10 in conference play, earned the eighth and final seed in the field via tiebreaker over Indiana Columbus. Using a point system based on strength on schedule, the RSC determined the Eagles,
who won a 3-1 in a match at IUC in September, had the better resume.
Awaiting Midway in the postseason in top-seeded Indiana Kokomo, the No. 11 team in the NAIA national rankings that has won 43 consecutive matches against RSC teams dating back to 2022.
The Cougars, who are going for an eighth-consecutive River States title, dropped just three sets during a 16-0 regular season in conference play,
including a 3-0 win at Midway on Oct. 19.
The opening round will be played in Kokomo at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
