Lords named first team, Reeves Freshman OTY on All-MSC Bowling Team

MIDWAY, Ky. - Five Midway bowlers earned six spots on the Mid-South All-Conference women's team Thursday, with Afton Lords and Avery Reeves earning two of the league's biggest honors.

Lords, who proved to be one of the most consistent bowlers in the entire conference, landed a spot on the All-MSC First Team.

In five conference matches, the senior from Herriman, Utah knocked down a league-high 3,928 pins, with her 196.4 average being the conference's third-best mark.

Elsewhere, Reeves earned Freshman of the Year honors. Playing 14 games in MSC Tournaments, Reeves hit 2,560 pins for a 182.8 average.

Reeves was also one of four Eagles to make the MSC All-Conference Second Team, where she was joined by Maggie Coleman, Gabrielle Gill and Sasha Uchwal.

That core has helped lead the Eagles to a historic season, highlighted by an ascent all the way to the No. 1 ranking in the national polls in November. That success helped them grab a spot in the Fort Worth (Texas) Sectional, as part of the 2024 Intercollegiate Team Championships on March 9-10.

"That's a big step up for us," Midway coach Michael Hall said. "We're really excited."

Before that, Midway will take part in the Mid-South Championships in Bowling Green this weekend. The three-day tournament at Southern Lanes began with singles and doubles play Thursday with the team tournament starting at 10 a.m. Friday.
