MARSHALL, Mo. - Midway had five wrestlers make it to day two of the Missouri Valley Invitational. The Eagles came in 22nd in the 50-team field with multiple wrestlers earning ranked wins.
Abe Hafez (165) was Midway's sole placer as he finished in seventh. He took out two ranked opponents: No. 23 Tommy Wentz of Concordia (Neb.), No. 24 Angel Hernandez of Keiser (Fla.).
Two of his losses where to ranked opponents in No. 4 Dylan Whitt of Grand View (Iowa) and No. 25 William Schwertscharf of Simpson (Calif.). He finished the weekend 4-3.
Jabril Williams (165) was one match away from placing in the 165-pound bracket. He was 4-2 on the weekend earning a ranked win over No. 22 Jayden Terronez of St. Ambrose (Iowa).
Anthony Caruso (141) and
Christopher Sperin (149) made it to day two before losing out of the tournament. Caruso's first loss was in his opening bout against No. 6 Thomas Williams of St. Thomas (Fla.). Sperin's loss came to No. 22 CJ Shadinger of Reinhardt (Ga.).
Kyler Adams (149) was 2-2 on the weekend with one of his losses coming from Jalen Vladic of Providence (Mont.).

Sebastian Hutchinson (174), and
Aaron Garcia (HWT) also earned a victory on the weekend.
"We had some guys come to this tournament for the first time and a few guys made some deep runs with five making it to day two," said head coach
Kenny Mason, "This is a mini-national tournament essentially so our guys now know where they are and what needs to be done if they want to be at that next level."
The Eagles will be back on the mat against Lindsey Wilson in their final MSC dual of the season on Jan. 31, at 8 p.m. ET.
