Esports teams prepare for postseason

MIDWAY, Ky. - Multiple Midway Esports teams have either clinched or are on the brink of clinching spots in the postseason.

The Apex team punched its ticket with a solid weekend in group play, placing first on Saturday and fifth on Sunday. The Eagles conclude the regular season having finished eighth in a 49-team division and will open the postseason on Saturday.

Also going through group play is the Warzone team, which recently fell from seventh to eighth in the standings, but still has a clear path to the postseason. Midway ends its regular season tonight and just needs to finish in the top-14 to qualify.

Rocket League and Rainbow 6 are also postseason bound.

Rocket League finished the regular season 6-1 after a 4-2 victory over Charleston Southern last week and got the No. 2 seed in its division. Despite a 2-0 loss to Weber State last week, Rainbow 6 was still able to get the No. 7 seed with a 4-3 record.

Both teams begin the playoffs on Wednesday.

INDIVIDUAL PLAY

Owen Capria continued his excellent season with three more wins in Street Fighter 6 1 vs. 1, winning 3-2 against North Caroliina Greensboro and 5-0 against both the Universities of Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

Cody Griffith and Riley Ogden also had winning weeks in Guilty Gear, both going 2-1.
