Esports roundup: Apex takes first in open division

MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway's Apex team took first place in group matches and took a big step forward in its playoff push.

Competing on Saturday, the Eagles jumped from 30th in their divisional rankings to 15th and are in good position to qualify for the postseason with just one week of regular season action left.

Elsewhere, the Warzone team finished third in its weekly matches, jumping from 10th to sixth in the 22-team rankings.

HEAD-TO-HEAD TEAM PLAY

Rainbow 6 and Rocket League both earned wins last week.

Rocket League improved to 4-1 on the season with a 4-3 victory against Florida Polytechnic, while Rainbox 6 got a forfeit victory over Mississippi State White to jump to 4-2.

Riley Ogden had a 2-1 week, rebounding from a 3-2 loss to Georgia Tech with a 3-2 win over Bates Technical College and a 5-0 victory against Hood in Guilty Gear.

Owen Capria went 1-2 in Street Fighter 6 and Cody Griffith was 0-3 in Guilty Gear.
