MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway had 16 players selected to the All-Midwest Sprint Football League team on Monday, highlighted by record-setting quarterback
Christian Carter being named Offensive Player of the Year.
Carter was one of three Eagles players to be named to the All-MSFL First Team. Seven made Second Team with six more named as Honorable Mentions.
Offensive player of the year
Christian Carter, quarterback
The sophomore rewrote both the Midway and Midwest Sprint Football League record book in 2025, passing for 2,188 yards and 25 touchdowns, both of which were MSFL records. His efforts also helped the Eagles set new league records for passing yards (2,377) and total yards (3,825).
On top of that, Carter tied Army's Javier Sustaita
for the most yards ever thrown in a sprint football season. Sustaita set his mark in 2012 as part of the Collegiate Sprint Football League.
He also helped orchestrate the most prolific offensive performance ever recorded by an MSFL team, in which the Eagles set a single-game scoring record
in a 78-0 rout of Oakland City. Carter threw for 322 yards and five touchdowns in a game where the Eagles gained a single-game record 625 yards of offense.
The dual threat QB added 380 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
First-team All-Conference
Offense
Ayden Bauwens, wide receiver
Carter's biggest target during the year was Bauwens, who set MSFL records with 803 yards and nine touchdown catches.Â
Bauwens also had the second most catches in a season by an MSFL player (37) while his 803 yards were second most in the history of sprint football, trailing only the 886 recorded by Whit Shaw of Penn in 2009.
Defense
Trenton Leach, defensive lineman
A Second-Team selection a season ago, Leach jumped up to the first in his sophomore season.
A consistent force at the defensive end position, he was third on the team with 37 tackles and third in the MSFL with 4.5 sacks on a defense that was second in the league in points (18.9) and yards (274.5) allowed per-game.
Second-Team All-Conference
Offense
Quincy Barber, wide receiver
Like Bauwens, Barber also got into the MSFL record book, as his 40 receptions were the most by any player in league history. His 696 receiving yards trail only Bauwens in the history of the league.
The highlight of his season was an
11-catch, 167-yard performance against Quincy on Oct. 18. His 11 receptions are tied for the most ever recorded in an MSFL game.
Chase Williams, wide receiver
The Eagles got a third honored wideout in Williams, who finished the year with 446 yards and five touchdowns through the air.
This is the second-straight, Second-Team selection for Williams, who made it on both offense and special teams last season.
Demari Edelen, running back
Midway also had great balance in the run game, thanks largely to Edelen, who ran for a league-high 667 yards in his freshman season.
His rushing yards were a single-season Midway record, as were his five rushing touchdowns.
Defense
Preston Moore, defensive back
Moore was the league's biggest ball hawk in 2025, recording an MSFL-best seven interceptions, one shy of the single-season record.
He had two picks
in three-consecutive games late in the season, and scored a pair of touchdowns in the 78-0 blowout of Oakland City, a game in which the Eagles set a league record for fewest yards allowed in a game (negative-12).
Tristian Euell, defensive lineman
The freshman was one of the most dominant front-four players in the MSFL, leading the team with 45 tackles while finishing second in the league with 12.5 tackles for-loss.
He made his presence felt immediately with 11 tackles, three tackles for-loss, two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble
in a 50-0, week-two win at Bellarmine.Â
Byron Wallace, linebacker
Wallace was a consistent presence from his linebacker position, finishing second on the team with 43 tackles.
He also had 2.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for-loss which amounted to 41 lost yards.
Special Teams
Kadin Fitch, kicker
Fitch made 17-of-22 extra-point attempts in 2025 while also hitting 4-of-5 field-goal tries, including a 40-yarder in week four against Saint Mary of the Woods.
Honorable Mentions
Offense
Hunter Leigh, offensive line
The senior guard helped anchor an offense that led the MSFL in both passing and rushing (1,448) yards.
Deondre Henry, running back
Henry rushed for 242 yard and two touchdowns for the season, while gaining 102 on 25 carries
in the regular-season finale against Calumet.
Defense
Keegan Hill, defensive back
Hill recorded six interceptions, which was second to teammate Moore in the MSFL. He had two picks against both Bellarmine in week two and Calumet in the opening round of the league playoffs.
Brady Bond, defensive lineman
Bond had 34 tackles and three tackles for-loss this season, while forcing two fumbles.
Trenton Everett, linebacker
Everett had 29 tackles on the season, while his nine tackles for-loss led all Midway linebackers.
Robert Thompson, linebacker
